"PROTECT OUR PLANTS ...
SO THEY CAN PROTECT YOU."
OLOIRIEN — a Maasai Community Project
a Maasai-led initiative safeguarding indigenous medicinal wisdom

We welcome you with a free gift for you: a beautiful illustrated book which is our first pilot project (link below). And, the other: the gift of health and wellness resulting from us all working together to save our plants.
Healing Roots, Healing Lives
For generations, Maasai Elders, expert ethnobotanists, have kept alive powerful plant-based remedies—passed down through stories, songs, and hands-on practice. These plants are not just African heritage— this knowledge could hold the solutions we all need for future health challenges like the next novel virus.
Digital Preservation + Plant Protection
OLOIRIEN uses modern technology to document and share traditional plant medicine knowledge. We’re building the first Maasai Materia Medica—digital books in English, Maa, and Swahili—to teach, inspire, and protect both the plants and the people who care for them, and to share this ethnobotany wisdom with pharmaceutical researchers around the world.
Start with a Gift, Grow with a Cause
Celebrate the launch of this mission by receiving our totally free interactive storybook: a beautifully illustrated, multimedia journey through the Maasai Mara’s plants, animals, and wisdom. With the choice of a small donation, you unlock extra content like plant identifier keys, a safari journal and multiple copies to share while empowering Maasai communities with modern technology to share their traditional knowledge with all the world.
